Generic Levaquin to treat bacterial infections

Generic Levaquin Tablet is an antibiotic, used in the treatment of bacterial infections in adults and children (>6months age). It is also used in treating infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin and lungs (pneumonia). It cures the infection by stopping the further growth of the causative microorganisms.

Generic Levaquin Tablet should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at a fixed time. Avoid skipping any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Simply take the next dose as planned.

You may have a headache, dizziness, nausea, and constipation as side effects of this medicine. Generic Levaquin Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by stopping the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing them.

Dosage

Take Generic Levaquin exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully. Your doctor will determine the best dose for you.

The usual dose of Generic Levaquin tablets or oral solution is 250 mg, 500 mg, or 750 mg by mouth every 24 hours, as indicated by infection.

The usual dose of Generic Levaquin injection is 250 mg or 500 mg administered by slow infusion over 60 minutes every 24 hours or 750 mg administered by slow infusion over 90 minutes every 24 hours, as indicated by infection. The duration of Generic Levaquin therapy is also indicated by infection.

In patients with poor kidney function, the dosage is adjusted.

However, elderly patients are more likely to have age-related tendon complications (including tendon rupture) and kidney, liver, or heart problems, which may need caution and an adjustment in the dose for patients receiving Generic Levaquin 500 mg.

Breastfeeding:

There are no enough studies in women for managing infant risk when using this medication while breastfeeding. Show the potential benefits against the potential risks before taking this medication while breastfeeding.
